Geocaching Better Driving Directions

By Lil Devil on December 26, 2010 – 11:24am

This script gives driving directions to the parking area (if defined) instead of the cache coordinates.

Install Install or update the script

What This Script Does

At the top of any geocache page, a few lines below the coordinates, is a link providing driving directions. Most of the time this works fine to get you there. But sometimes the cache is a significant distance from parking, and the cache owner will provide parking coordinates in an additional waypoint. In this case the driving directions link should provide directions to parking, and not directly to the cache. This script modifies the link to do just that.

The script also adds driving directions links next to each "parking" waypoint, which is especially useful if there are multiple parking waypoints.

In the next version I will add an option to use services other than Google to get the directions. Please post a comment below with a link to your favorite website that provides directions.

This script has been confirmed to work in Firefox (with Greasemonkey), Opera, and Chrome. It should also work in any other browser that can run userscripts.
