2010-02-11 New VIP List script is finally here
After a long and difficult process, version 3.0 of my VIP List script is now available!
Many, many new features. Foremost is the option to always load all logs. A legend to show what the different colors and shading mean. Show a picture frame next to logs in the VIP List that have images. Ability to show dates in user-defined formats (e.g. M/D/Y or Y/M/D etc.). An option to denote who has logged multiple finds on the same cache. A "mine" icon next to the cache name for caches owned by the logged-in user. Much more.
2010-01-13 Several Script Updates
Groundspeak drastically updated the geocaching.com website today, breaking all of my scripts. Fortunately, as a reviewer for them, I was able to beta-test the new website and get a head-start on updating my scripts. Most of my scripts have now been updated to work with the site layout. However, one of them, VIP List, is a bit more complex than the others and will take me another couple of days to finish.
You can just click the version number of the scripts below to download the scripts directly, or click the names to get more information about the scripts.
2008-08-19 New script: Geocaching VIP List
For those of you who like Prime Suspect's excellent True Totals script, you're going to really love this one. The namesake function of that script was ultimately implemented by Groundspeak directly onto the cache page, but the secondary function, giving you quick links to your own cache logs, continued to be useful (until broken by the recent site update). Now imagine having links to not only your own logs, but also to the logs of certain, special cachers. These "VIPs" might be your friends, family, or anyone else you want to keep an eye on.
The following will appear just below the "Navigation" buttons on the right-hand side of all cache pages. (of course with links to YOUR VIPs.)
2008-08-13 Updated Bag-o-Tricks script and new Friends List script
Wow I can't believe how long it's been since I put out any updates. I've been working on several scripts over the last few months and it's about time I "shoot the engineer" and get the scripts published.
A couple of weeks ago the geocaching.com site was changed again and broke a bunch of my stuff. I fixed the Geocaching Bag-o-Tricks script and published it, and then yesterday I found a much better way to widen the text input boxes so I put out another update.
I also wrapped up my new Geocaching Friends List Enhancements script. It changes the "Found:" and "Hidden:" numbers on your Friends List into links that will take you to your friend's lists of finds and hides, and it changes all the links on the Friends page so they will open in a new window or tab.
2007-11-01 Updated Geocaching Bag-o-Tricks script
It's been a while since I put out any updates, and since the geocaching.com site was changed again to further break my scripts, I figured I should fix them and get them out. So here is the updated "Bag-o-Tricks" script.
In addition to a few bug fixes, there are several new features. Most notable are the small map can be moved from the sidebar back into the coordinates box where it resided in the past, and there is an option to hide the disclaimer box from the cache page for those of us who know the terms and conditions well and are tired of being reminded of them.
Read more about the changes on the bottom of the script page.
2007-01-10 New script: Geocaching Collapse Blocks
Ever get tired of all those blocks taking up real estate on the right-hand side of a cache page? Navigation, Attributes, Inventory and Bookmark Lists. Sometimes you just get tired of them. Now you can collapse them to just their title bar, or even make them disappear completely.
Stay tuned for another new script I'll be releasing soon. It's pretty much done, but I want to test it a bit more. It is kind of similar to Prime Suspect's Totals By Log Type script but instead of showing a list of just your own logs, it gives a list of logs by everyone on your personal VIP list.
2007-01-04 Updated Geocaching Bag-o-Tricks script
I just updated the "Geocaching Bag-o-Tricks" script. A user in Texas asked for an owner email link on the travel bug page, which was easy since I already had most of the code from the cache page. While re-testing everything I also noticed that the new Details section on the Edit Profile page wasn't getting widened so I fixed that along with a minor bug that was causing superfluous JavaScript errors when viewing a print-friendly page.
Stay tuned for a couple of new scripts I'll be releasing soon. They're pretty much done, but I want to test them a bit more.
