Sept 15 - Thank you Wedco!

Woo hoo we're moving again!

After a peaceful night's sleep in Wedco Muffler & Fabrication's parking lot, we woke up to the sounds of industry. Back-up beepers. Compressors. Air wrenches. You name it. I had breakfast then "borrowed" some other business's WiFi to check up on email and other things geocaching. At around 11am I went into the office to check on the schedule. The guy that was going to work on my rig is almost done with the other project.

I go back out to the trailer and relax for a little while. At around 1pm Angel and I are getting anxious. We know that if our rig doesn't get done today, we're going to be stuck here all weekend. I go back in to check with the manager. He says our tech finished the other project and went to lunch. Lunch. Now there's a good idea. I tell him we're going to do the same, and they can feel free to move our rig and get started.

We take off and get some lunch and also find a few caches. Even in the face of adversity I always remember to go caching. It helps to relax me and feel like *something* is getting accomplished. We come back and the rig is in the shop.

I go chat with the tech and it's going well. He's almost got the remains of the old mount ground away. I check out the tires that have been removed. One of them is not too bad, with only a little smoothing of tread. The other has a few chunks taken out of it, but its only in the tread and not the body of the tire. I take that one and throw it in the truck and drive away to a tire place for advice. As we're driving, I predict that no matter what, the sales guy at the tire shop will just tell me to replace it because that way he'll make money. I was pleasantly surprised when the tire guy confirmed my observation that the chunks were only missing from the tread and not the body of the tire. He advised not replacing it until it really needs it. That was refreshing. big grin

We get back to Wedco, and the tech is welding the new spring mount in place. The manager comes out to check on things, and I pointed out a couple of cracks in the I-beam frame that have been slowly growing for the last couple of years. He agrees that it would be good to weld a plate over that area to be safe.

About an hour later, right at 5pm (closing time) I'm sitting out in the truck with Angel and I notice our tech driving a forklift past us. He's done and he's about to pull our trailer out of the shop. I go into the office to settle up the bill. I'm expecting it to be about $400. I was pleased that it was only $375. We thank the guys profusely for getting the job done before the weekend.

We quickly hitched up and were on our way to the Grand Tetons. We pulled into camp an hour and a half later, just in time to set up camp in the twilight of the setting sun.
